LLT Wins “Project of the Year” for FSU’s Ruby Diamond Auditorium
Thursday, October 6, 2011, LLT Building Corporation received the prestigious “Project of the Year” award at the 2011 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) North Florida Chapter Awards Gala for their work on The Florida State University’s Ruby Diamond Auditorium.
LLT began this historic renovation and new construction project in 2008. Over a two-year span, the interior of famed Ruby Diamond Auditorium adjoining Florida State University’s Westcott Building was demolished and rebuilt to provide the very best acoustics, a larger stage and theatre quality seating, including parterre boxes. In 2010, the newly named Ruby Diamond Concert Hall made its public debut with a concert from headlining musician B.B. King. This year, Ruby Diamond earned the distinguished “Gold” LEED certification for its environmentally friendly construction.
“Ruby Diamond was one of those once in a life opportunities,” says Dennis Tribble, President of LLT Building Corporation. “We are proud to have been awarded the opportunity by the University and College of Music to transform a 1950′s auditorium into a premier performance hall. Everyone agrees the new venue leaves performers and audience members alike with an experience second to none.”
“Winning ABC’s ‘Project of the Year’ award confirms our colleagues and peers agree Ruby Diamond is a project of distinction,” says Paul Boyle, LLT Project Manager. “It’s an incredible honor and one we share with FSU, the project team, architect and trade contractors who worked so hard to make the University and College of Music’s dream into a reality. From the grand entrance to the telescoping orchestra pit to the ornate finish details throughout, the more than 100,000 square feet that make up Ruby Diamond have been transformed in to a world class concert hall.”
The North Florida Chapter ABC’s Awards of Excellence Program is the construction industry’s premier competition that recognizes outstanding construction projects across the Big Bend area. Held every two years, the awards competition celebrates commercial general contractors and trade contractors by recognizing projects that have achieved excellence in constructing innovative projects that utilize a team approach, while injecting safety programs and innovative technologies. The “Project of the Year” Award is the highest honor a project can receive from ABC’s North Florida Chapter.
